Market Introduction:
The South Korean carmaker launched the most luxurious Kia Carnival on 5 February, 2020 at the Auto Expo 2020.Â
Variants:
Kia offers the Carnival mainly in three variants. These include prestige, limousine, and limousine plus which serve as the entry, mid, and top models, respectively.
Engine and transmission:
The CRDi 2.2-litre inline four-cylinder engine perfectly syncs with the eight-speed sportsmatic transmission and churns out 197bhp at 3,800rpm and 440Nm of torque between 1,500-2,750rpm.
Exterior:
The SUV is 5,115mm long, 1,985mm broad, and 1,740mm tall and gets R18-inch alloys as standard for all models. Apart from these, the car also gets the Kia signature tiger-nose grille with chrome inserts, body-coloured bumpers, sleek LED headlamps, ice cube LED fog lamps, shark fin antenna, and so on.
Interior:
Carnival’s interior impresses with premium fabric seats, an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a dual sunroof, and one-touch power sliding doors for all the models. Exclusive to the Limousine and Limousine Plus variants are a smart air purifier with perfume diffuser and virus protection, a 10.1-inch touchscreen rear-seat entertainment only for the left passenger, premium leatherette seats, and second-row VIP seats with leg support. Further, in Limousine Plus you also get acoustic Harmon-Kardon eight-speaker sound system, 10.1-inch dual touchscreen rear seat entertainment, and electronic parking brakes.
Safety and features:
The feature list of Carnival includes tri-zone automatic climate control system, front parking sensors, smart power tailgate, auto anti-glare mirror, 10-way power driver seat, ventilated driver seats, wireless smartphone charger, and highline TPMS.
In terms of safety, the Carnival is equipped with Brake Assist System (BAS), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Roll Over Mitigation (ROM), side and curtain airbags, burglar alarm, and driver and passenger seat belt reminder.
Seating capacity:
The Carnival is available in six-, seven-, and eight-seat options. Further, owners can also opt for  second-row VIP seats.
Colour options:
Buyers can choose between Aurora Black Pearl, Steel Silver, and Glacier White Pearl colour options.
Rivals:
The Carnival does not have any direct rivals. However, the Toyota Innova comes close to being its competitor in the Indian market.
